getting a cheap "starter" bike is generally the safest approach. there isn't a better way to learn the fundamentals. the problem is most riders will outgrow them fast and lose money when they sell it. i was impatient and started on a new bike h: on the plus side, i was too much of a pussy to ride it hard and on crowded streets for a few months :chuckles:

but saying "The gixxer 600's arent that powerful" is nuts...even accomplished riders will never get more than ~50% of what that bike is capable of!!
