Actually the clutch master cylinder is on the firewall, the clutch slave cylinder is on the transmission.
You can see if your clutch master cylinder is leaking by looking inside your car by your clutch pedal. You will see the shaft of the clutch master cylinder attached to the clutch pedal, if you have leakage there then your clutch master cylinder is bad. You can first try to bleed the system of air like someone already said.
