As txhatch is getting at, gearing is very important, shorter gears are much less likely to drop you low enough to get out of the VTEC range then longer gears.

Isn't 5200RPM about stock engagement?

If it really bothers you, adjust the engagement point down to match it, but if it has been dyno tuned to be there, just leave it.
