umm, bout a 4 hour project with a set of extra hands around. I ran into a couple of problems. One will depend on how your vehicle is equipped. When you get the panel off and replace the speaker, theres no place to run the new wire. The grommet leading to the outside of the door is completely covered with a big white plastic plug. You have to pull the rubber pipe between the door and the car away from the door and unplug the plastic plugs underneath. THese contain the controls for your locks and windows. You can pull the big plug that blocks the grommet out from the speaker hole. Theres no place to run the wire through it so you have to drill. Just pick a spot where nothing plugs into it and it will be fine. Then you have to run the wire frmo the outside of the door and into the car. I cut a hole in the grommet on both ends for the wire. It was too much of a pain in the ass to try to feed it through the rubber tube. I made my cut small and covered the speaker wire in split loom when i was done. It looks very nice and I'm sure nothing bad will happen to it. After that, its easy. once you get inside the car, you just run the speaker wires down whatever side is convenient for you, so long as you run the power wire for your amplifiers downt he other side.
