u shouldnt run synthetic in a motor that was raised with conventional oil. if u rebuild the motor and run mobil1 full synthetic from 1000 miles onward, like me, then its a different story. synthetic tends to slip past seals that have been soaked in conventional oil for 10 or 20 thousand miles which means switching to synthetic after running the engine on regular for a while can cause you to start burning or leaking oil.
every engine is different but its a good rule of thumb.
