We all know they're out there. Some of us have had the unpleasant misfortune as to have a run-in with them. Bad cops do everyone a disservice. Not only do they abuse their position, they foster mis-trust among those whom they are to protect. As in any sector of society, there are problem children. This is to be expected. But when this happens to be a member of law enforcement, the consequences are more pronounced. Our society preaches tolerance and compassion. When a bad cop enters the mix, the effect on society can have unexpected results to say the least.

With the recent wave of videotaped abuses at the hands of law enforcement, perhaps the problem is more wide spread than conventional wisdom would expect. The only way this kind of shit will stop is if we can expose as many of the incidents as we can. Make the law enforcement agencies accountable for the actions of their officers. Perhaps by showing the sheer number of abuses, the leadership within the various agencies could be convinced to revise their screening, hiring and training procedures.Fcuk cops!
