Last week I ran over a good sized rabbit. I was going straight on a narrow two lane country road. If I swerved I might have missed the rabbit. But instead I just kept going straight and lifted off the gas a bit. It took some concentration to keep my arms from moving the steering wheel.

It's an unfortunately natural instict to try and swerve! So stop criticizing what happened. Specially when you know you will probably do that exact same thing. Save for a few of you.
I challenge anyone not to swerve when a concrete slab falls off a truck in front of you...
Concrete slab = instant death. Swerve = good chance at like.
