basically you are just booting from the XP cd, when you come to this screen:


remember to choose the first option, NOT the "repair" option.

then a couple screens later, you will run into this:


and in choosing the "repair" option, it will replace corrupted files. i cant say that itll solve your problem, but :dunno: just a suggestion i guess.
