When you're ABS light comes on, it will deactivate your ABS system based on the computer sensing something is wrong. I would have just left it with the light on instead of trying to reset as you did. If you don't want your ABS working, disconnect the wheel speed sensor at the location where it's bad, tape off the ends (to prevent crude from getting into the connection) and try to move it out of the way so the wiring harness doesn't get caught on something and rip out as you are driving. Realize though your light will be on. I don't know though if I would want to pull the ABS relay in the fuse box, in case that relay helps keep the actuator energizes so that some of the ports are open so brake fluid flows through them.

Do you know which sensor is bad (i mean which wheel)? What I've done before is sprayed brake cleaner on the teeth to help clean it out, so that the sensor can better read the teeth rpms, why don't you try that?
