I didn't say it couldn't, I said it wouldn't spool it well. I have personally seen a local guy with a stock D16Y8 with a DRAG kit (T3/T4) lose to SleeperCivicEX (stock D16Y8 w/ Greddy 15G kit) at the same boost level. It wasn't a one-time thing either, it happened EVERY time. The D16Y8 just doesn't push enough out to spool such a large turbo efficiently without doing some internal work. You might be able to get more out of that setup with good tuning by bringing the fuel down, but you're really wasting that turbo on that engine.

My Garrett T3/T04E's efficiency range is somewhere in the vicinity of 16psi - 22psi and I haven't even touched that yet. A smaller turbo would be much more easily spooled and the efficiency range would be down in a pressure more frequently used by a stock D16Y8 engine.

I am in no way saying that you 'can't' use a T3/T4 turbo on a Y8, just that for a stock application, there are better choices out there.
