thats happened to me a couple times. dont know what year your car is or anything but i was able to replace mine on my 93 without removing anything. i just took a hammer and a punch(depending on how much of the stud is left) and hammered it through so it fell out the back and then put the new stud through the hole(its a tight fit for your fingers directing the stud to the hole from the back) and then pulled it through by tightning a lug nut on it.
