If that was an A/C line going to or from the condenser (the radiator looking thing that has metal hoses going to it,) like it sounds like... you might want to go to a doctor. Now. The radiator has a couple rubber hoses and will only dump green fluid when opened. Poping the lines off the condenser will dump about a pound of liquid R134a that will quickly boil off into a gas, plus some light oil.
There is an easy way to check this out. If the lines connect to the A/C compressor... you just got a large dose of R134a coolant. Don't try to run the A/C before you have it recharged, or you'll burn out the compressor (even more money wasted.)
Be careful what you go removing. If you don't know what something is, don't screw with it. Look up what it is, and go from there.
