Sweet, I hadn't really considered the alternator? My friend had a '98 Eclipse GS and everytime he hit the revlimiter it would throw the alternator belt and he'd be running on just battery power. It happened to us and left him stuck in a parking lot one time and I had to hook his battery into my hybrid to charge it with my alternator to get both our cars home (I won't mention the part where I hooked his battery up backwards in the dark and blew the 80A fuse in my car leaving us both stranded, it's just embarrasing). I just assumed if the battery was still strong, it would still start and run.
Oh well, glad it worked out for you. This is the second success story I read today in here so I'm really happy for everybody. Get some pictures, I'd like to see them, especially if your car is bronze, I like that color. I'd appreciate it if you hang around and help with other problems that come up. We used to have a pretty good community in here till all the hacks and the crashes a year or so ago and everybody quit coming back. I'd love to have a few guys in here with actually EK experience to help out. Congratulations again, hope it runs strong.
