We have had pre-ignition issues, at least, I think that is it. I worked with CAT engines so I have some experience. The sound occurs, sometimes - not all the time, when accelerating gradually or going uphill - again, accelerating slowly.

I use 95 octane and switched gas brands. I live in Norway and the gas quality does not change that much as there are only 3 refineries. I switched from Statoil to Esso. The noise, come to think of it, did stop after I first switched but it is now back. Perhaps, I should go back and forth??

Is it pre-ignition? The sound occured before oil change and after.
