Default Show classifications

Ok serious question and I don't want to hear "shows suck" because I agree but this question is part of the reason.

I grew up around shows and general car events and in every event there was a Daily Driver class in each show. This gave a chance to compete against like cars for the budget builder who has to use their vehicle as well or at least drives it pretty regularly against others who do the same.

Now I have noticed in import shows that this class does not exist. There is a "street class" but all that means is that the car showing is not quite to the mild category as of yet. Within the "street class" there are still cars who are trailered from show to show and never make more than 100 miles on the odometer a year.....why? How can the driven car compete against that and what is the point of having a street class if cars in it never hit the street?

This has been bugging me for some time and I really hope someone can explain this to me so it makes sense.
