Honda claims to get better filtering from the newer smaller filter design so I think it's probably worth it to go with the newer ones. I know a tech who bought two cases of the older bigger filters made by filtech because fram started making the smaller ones for honda. I think if you have faith in Honda/Acura, you should know they wouldn't make a shitty filter. That's my take on it. My filters never stay on long enough to do damage anyways. My oil looks new still when I change it on both my daily drivers. I think when ppl start paying more than 5 dollars for an oil filter they are spending too much. It's like this time I was in line at an auto parts place(pepboys) and this guy was asking about spark plugs for his Honda, the parts guy told him that NGK's were junk and that platinum bosch was best for his car. The guy was all convinced and the parts guy went to go get the plugs. I asked the guy what kind of honda he had and he said it was a civic hx. I almost laughed. I asked how much for the bosch plugs and he said like 3 bucks a piece. This is the same thing with the oil filter's.it's just an aftermarket company that wants to make money so they hype up the parts to make them sound all better, who has seen the ads on tv for the "high milage oil", ha ha nice marketing! I have an 85 accord I better go get that! Come on, it's an oil filter. If it was so much better I think Honda would have it on the cars stock. It's bullshit, but if it makes you feel better at night buy it.
your absolutely right.. its JUST on oil filter.. JUST a conister placed with the intention of removing tiny debris from your engines oil.. youve really inspired me.. the next time i change my oil im just going to tape on a sock in a plastic bag.. who the hell needs an oil filter anyway...
