When the marine layer fog comes in (which is quite often), it can get downright freezing in Half Moon Bay It's an Oregon beach kind of cold, which is not to my liking at all. A bit further down the peninsula, near Santa Cruz would somewhat less prone to this effect. Moving inland a few dozen miles- Gilroy, for instance, would also work if you want warmer weather. FWIW, I'd pick a sunnier area, somewhere near Laguna Seca. h:

Half Moon Bay tends to have the coldest summer weather of the Bay Area Region, and the during the winter, it is likely to remain overcast and drizzly. Consider it a slice of the Oregon Coast grafted onto the Peninsula and you're not too far off.
