Default change CV boot myself or get it done?

My driver side CV boot is almost cracked all of the way through. Last year my passenger side boot cracked and ended up costing me a new axle, so I want to be more prompt on this one. I have a Haynes manual that seems to be quite descriptive on the process of changing the boot. Has anyone else attempted this and is it worth my time, hassle? I have a 94 civic and just want to know if it's worth my time to save $80 to do it myself ($20 for the boot to do it myself, $100 to get it done professionally)

Also, I wanted to flush out my cooling system but cannot find the drain plug that is supposedly on the front side of the engine block on a 1.5L? I found the back one by the oil filter but just can't find the front one.

If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm getting married in two weeks and need to cut costs wherever possible.

Thanks a lot
