For the past couple of months I was observing a strange problem on my car during start:
Action:
When I crank the ingnition switch from OFF position (I) to intermediate position (before START).
Observation: The Dashboard lights up and acts normal.
Action:
Then I try to start the engine by cranking the ingnition switch further into START position.
Observation:
It used to start after some tries. But, when it does not start I dont even hear the engine sound trying to start. However, I hear some system (may be the starter) giving a buzzing/humming noise just behind the firewall near the clutch, when the ignition switch is cranker fully.
I was lazy to attend to this issue. Now the car doesnt start at all. All I hear is the buzzing noise hehind the firewall described earlier.
I have checked the battery & tried to Jump start but does not work.
I dont have any experience with working on cars. But, from my research with Chilton & internet - I am suspecting the following systems (:
* Starter
* Ingnition Switch
* Neutral Start Switch
* Some related relay
* Loose wiring (near starter)
If you think its the starter : How do I access and where is it located.
Thanks!
Sounds like the starter to me.
I've tried this method once on my friends car.
While he was starting the car I took his club ( Steering wheel club ) and started to beat on the starter while he was cranking.
It started but he needed the car to make it to the autoshop to have it repaired. So if it works just keep in mind its temporary.
