I have seen guys run 225/50/15 on stock 6" wheels, although it depends on the tire itself (compound, sidewall strength, actual width, etc). Also depends on what exactly you are trying to improve...ie straight line acceleration, quick response, handling characteristics, etc.

I would say 205/50 is a good general compromise with the tires that we tend to consider.
