I would check the voltage coming from your cigarette lighter, most inverters need right around 12-13 volts of electricity, and not all cig lighters put out 12 volts, if it isnt putting out that much you can tap into a constant (or switched) 12 volt wire and splice it to the existing wire and that should help you out a lot. It also wouldnt hurt to up the fuse size for the lighter.
