PRK (ORK was a typo) Is essentially the same proceedure as LASIK. LASIK preserves some of the surface cells as the flap, then they zap and fold the flap back over. PRK just scrapes that off.

LASIK is approved for non-fliers - but equals perminant disqualification for flying status. The flap can become dislodged by an impact or high-g forces. - losing vision untill a doc can reseat it. So PRK is better for a very active lifestyle

LASIK still have a recovery period, its just not quite as long as with PRK - since you have to regenerate those lost cells.

BTW: it changes with each branch.

IE: With the coast gaurd, PRK = disqualify for pilots too, but approved for divers.

with no proceedure do they guartuntee 20/20
ok.. nowhere in my post did i say anything about any eye surgery DQing you from being a pilot so where the **** did that come from?

with LASIK the recovery period is less and there is only a slight discomfort. not nearly enough pain to warrant percocet. LASIK is also more precise when it comes to your vision.
