Drill and tap your Autometer sender into the flange where the upper radiator hose goes into the head. This will give you a nice reading of the water temp after it has passed thru your radiator.

You should understand the stock gauge is not that accurate. While your car is warm and the stock gauge goes to its usual spot right before the halfway mark, you will see the massive flucuations of water temp from your Autometer gauge.
