Well, the exhaust is on now. Installation went ok, I was shocked that I did not break one single nut or bolt (lots of rust, this was the original system that came off). Had to make multiple trips to the hardware store, plus I had to buy a new cat (should have tried vice grips on the rounded-off nuts before I cut them off with a cutting wheel...I was going to drill out the cat bolts and put the new ones in, but those were VERY hard bolts).
Hey, while I'm thinking about it, any good ideas on how to fix the old heat shields to the new cat? There are no mounting points for the nuts and bolts to hold the heat shields to the cat, so I was thinking of just having it tack-welded to the cat.
I spent way too much on this little project, I could have gone with an aftermarket system for much less, sucks to see that now (buying the cat really hurt). At least the car is much quieter now, at least at idle.
