I have the comptech icebox; I actually wrote a long review of it (now located in forum archives).

Here's the breakdown of the whole AEM vs. Comptech debate. AEM and Comptech both make the same peak power, with comptech claiming they have a wider powerband/less peaky behavior. AEM is cheaper than Comptech. The big catch is that it is MUCH harder to hydrolock the comptech icebox versus the AEM (if you want an in-depth detailed explanation look at my post in the archives). The only person I know of to hydrolock his engine with the icebox had his engine replaced by comptech. If you happen to be driving in conditions that would permit the icebox to suck up water, then water would have to be up well past your door (in which case you'll probably be worrying about a lot more than just your engine).

People who bring up the hydrlock issue quote AEM's bypass valve. The thing may work, but it takes away some of the power gain (something AEM doesn't talk too loudly about).

If you're really worried about hydrolocking, get the icebox (you don't need the Comptech short-ram intake, just the foam air filter). There isn't another intake out there that will give you as much power gain with a minimal chance of hydrolocking.

If your car isn't driven daily and/or you live in super dry conditions, get the AEM. It has the same peak power gain, is cheaper, and it's much, much louder h: if loud is your thing.

If you can't afford Comptech but are afraid of hydrolocking get the AEM w/bypass valve. It ends up costing just a little less than comptech but most people use this setup and are perfectly happy with it.

Comptech doesn't void warranty and cops won't even notice you have an aftermarket intake (uses stock-looking airbox if you like the sleeper style ) You will be a poorer man though.
