Once isntalled ur still moving the tranny as far as before it just the shifter that has a lesser throw. U will see it more clearely once u install the adapter.
indeed. if you really wanted to, you could just get rid of the whole assembly and have a friend shift for you by pulling/pushing on one cable and pushing/pulling on the other. there are two independent rods, so you could even get funky with it and weld a long stick onto both rods and have your friend shift from the backseat.
