Default Dissappointing time at the track :(

I've had my 5spd teg for about 2 months now and I decided to take it to the track...granted i've only been driving a stick for 2 months, I knew i wouldn't have great times. I got soooo nervous because i'd never done this before, and the car ahead of my run ran a 9.4 in the 1/4!!! So, without further adu, here are my 1/4 times. Please no flames, I'm new to this and made several mistakes on EVERY run:

1st Run vs. civic hatch, sohc vtec w/ turbo and nitrous:
R/T .871
60' 3.062
330 9.029
1/8 13.11 @ 61.6 mph
1000 16.49
1/4 19.322 @ 78.41

this was by far my worst run (duh) because it was my very first try and i basically dropped it waaay to high and then shifted straight into third to overcorrect, which caused it to drop to like 3.5k rpm (BAH!). I learned from this, but still sucked.

2nd Run vs. civic hatch, b16a
R/T 1.052
60' 2.689
330 7.25
1/8 10.969 @ 65.84 mph
1000 14.178
1/4 16.89 @ 82.44

believe it or not, this was my best run! bah, i know it sucks.

3rd Run vs. old Ford Escort GT
R/T 1.685
60' 3.047
330 7.956
1/8 11.464 @ 62.24
1000 14.809
1/4 17.581 @ 81.58

story on the R/T and the 60'. Stupid me not knowing the rules of the track, I thought I went to far, so I put it in reverse. All of a sudden I see the green light and I'm like NOOOOOOO!!!!

4th Run vs. old VW scirocco
R/T .793
60' 2.662
330 7.257
1/8 11.039 @ 64.73
1000 14.288
1/4 17.008 @82.91

I think what I need to work on most is my R/T and how to launch. After that I'm ok. Its just that first part that makes or breaks the entire run.

Please offer advice to a beginner. Anything is welcome.
