in a sixth gen I found 6k rpm to be the best place to shift, but I have a manual. with 6.5 redline. I read u should shift around 10% under redline.

I have a rental corolla right now and I keep using the shift lever. Its fast as shit compared to civics I drove and its fun at times to torture the auto tranny. If I hold the brake in all the way and punch the gas, thenrelease the brake it will squeal the tires funny thing is when I "shift" to second at 6k it will rev to almost 7k and boumce the rev limiter before engaging 2nd. Probably not good for the car but who cares.
