Just a thought, but at least in my little d-series wonder
, on the highway if I'm crusing in 5th, I'm not going to be able to accelerate quickly enough to do avoid an accident anyway. So in a way I am closer to the downshift in neutral, than I would be in gear.
Myself included, I think we are pondering the purpose of this law too much.
