Hi Charles. I became interested in E30's a while ago (specifically the M3), and spent a good deal of time on S14.net. In terms of the more basic electronics upgrades (excluding stand-alone engine management), one of the most popular choices is the Jim Conforti ECU chip. You can find them easily by searching Google, and they're priced similarly to the AFC you were asking about. Plus, they're basically plug-and-play, and don't require a dyno to realize gains.
