suppose the main key is respect. if you speak proper english, you get respect. you could be the smartest guy on the block, but if you can't communicate effectively nobody'll take the time to hear you out. and in contrast, you could be the dumbest guy around, but if you're able to sell yourself through your use of language, you are a winnAr.
