This is correct. There are three grooves on the shock body that you can use to raise or lower the spring perch to get the desired height you are after. You place a snap ring in the groove you want to use and then the perch rests on the ring. If I had to guess, I'd say there's a 1/2" of total adjustment (up and down) available by using the different grooves.
