My only regrets are that after posting in mostly just the kills section for 3+ years I kinda regarded HAN as my home. All of us have to keep in mind that this is a privately owned business. The owners are free to do what they will. You can't argue "freedom of speech" and "first amendment" issues here. They simply don't apply. However, I'd like to point out that I think you're motivation is flawed...

Getting sponsor's to buy advertising space on your website is influenced by one thing.... NUMBERS. If you don't have the members to view the ads, the sponsors aren't going to advertise with you. Like Nathan said, the amount of users you have online is shrinking. Forcing us out only makes your numbers smaller.
