If I remember correctly, the Civic Special Edition comes with a D16Y7 engine, just like the Civic Value Package, CX, DX, and LX. Regardless of which engine it has, Honda has changed the recommended oil for 96-00 Civics (except Si) to 5W-20 instead of the previous 5W-30, although you can still use 5W-30 just as well. Apparently, they did this for fuel economy purposes. I personally like the 5W-30 though. Mobil-1 is the best stuff on earth, IMHO .
