I posted this on the engine tech and tuning section but I thought that I would run it passed the Accord specialists. Here it goes:
I just installed my Skunk2 cam gear into my 1995 Accord Coupe, When I took the old gear off, I tried my damndest to keep the belt in the same place and the crank at TDC. Luckly the gear is keyed so it can only go on one way. Now that I have it installed I was looking at the cam gear and it is basically retarded 10 degrees or so after I installed it. When I took off the cam gear and the timing belt everything was kosher. It was set to TDC and the old cam gear was in the up position and the divit on the camshaft (were the notch is taken out) was on top. I put on the new cam gear and the timing belt back on and it is retarded 10 Degrees (somehow). Should I just take off the belt again and turn the cam foward till it is back in the up position or should i do something else? I don't think that the crank moved at all when replacing the cam gear. Actually it didnt cause I marked the timing belt and the mark is still right on top after the new camgear was installed. So then does that mean the the crank is at TDC and the cam is retarded 10 degrees. I dont want my valves and pistons to be shaking hands. Thank you for any help that you can provide me with once again.
Sorry if it is a little bit choppy I cut and pasted two of my posts into one.
