Is it possible that the power is cycling on/off to your speakers? My ancient PowerBook 1400 does that, even when plugged in and it drive me nuts too. Plug in a set of headphones...see if it stops..:dunno:

i have desktop speakers threw the headphone port hooked up.. and it does it through those and the laptop's speakers..
