It sounds like it 's more than a lifter - isn't that usually more of a lighter ticking sound.

No oil loss, either.

I'll give the dealer a call and see what they advise.
What's Honda's stance on synthetic oil?
I know they want you to use genuine Honda everything in their vehicles.
I do believe in the manual for the civic it says using synthetic is fine and wont mess with your warranty. However I do believe its supposed to be the same viscosity(5w20 in your case).
