That doesn't help at all on his car.
Stock you have "sort of" an intake already, or you should have:

The plastic pipe that comes off of the air cleaner housing goes down beside the headlight on the grille. It's pretty pointless, and removing the housing to add a hose from the carb to the fenderwell won't do anything other than mean you have to start using a more expensive filter.
This is a better carb:

these kinds of air filters [for the 36/38 DGV/DGEV carbs].
This is more intake than you'll ever need on that engine
