if you wanna start out w/ something electric, buy used. I started out with one of those squire strats, and it was ok, but only lasted about two years before it started having some serious problems. So get somthing of medium quality and buy used to cut the costs. Right now I have an American Standard (new gen, titanium bridge, and all the goodies) and I play my roomies Parker Fly
