When I bought my 92 RS, I got a great deal because it was hard to get into 5th gear,...and a few other problems it had. Third gear grinded and 5th was very hard to get into. I took it home, checked the manual transmission fluid and found only about 3/4 of a quart of oil in the gearbox. So, I drained and replaced with 10w/30w oil and 5th gear came back but 3rd still grinded very badly. I was resigned to replacing syncro for 3rd gear until on G2IC I saw some members praising GM Syn MTF, but I couldnt afford it at the time so I bought Honda MTF. I sure am glad I did, because now I have ABSOLUTELY NO grinds at all and all gears shift superbly. OH, btw, my 92 RS has 248K miles and still going strong. So moral of the story is, if you have grinds and are using 10/30w in your tranny, then switch to Honda MTF before you convice yourself of needing tranny repair.

That's all i'm saying, Honda expressly says to use only Honda MTF and that's it. It works great and I see no need to switch to something not designed for a Honda. If your transmission grinds or makes noise or something it needs to be taken apart and fixed, no fluid is gonna fix it.
