My car broke down this morning, and im pretty 100% damn sure that it has something to do with the ignition. A couple of weeks ago, i was having some problems with it; the same thing it just did this morning.
It just shuts off. I still have all my power, all the lights are fine and it will turn over, but it wont start.
When i was having the same problem with it a couple weeks ago, i took it into my dads garage, took apart the distributor and was checking everything out. I found a wire that lead to the Igniter that had its insulation split. There was no fraying or anything so i just decided to heat shrink it. Well, my car worked fine. absultely no more problems, until this morning.
So, my car has a re-manufactured distributor. and what im wondering, is :
A) is there a Universal Part number for the igniter on my car that i should be looking for? i found one on the web, and i have a catalog number, but i wanna make sure that its the right one.
and B) when i took apart the distributor, i called one of my buddies over to gimme a hand. he had a Type-R that was just imaculate... Perfect. it was his baby. so much freaking money was put into that car. (that he all earned... thats why i dont hate him

) anyways, he did all the work himself so i trust him when he says something or makes a suggestion about my car. i explained to him what happened, and what code the ECU threw (12 or 21 i think it was 12 tho, i havent checked it yet) and he said that what probably happened is that, since i have a remanu'd distributor. who ever put it in probably just took the igniter out of the old one, and put it in the remanu'd one. it went out, i just need to replace it. now, is this a common thing? or is he just blowing smoke up my ass?
thanks guys!
