It is the cassette deck with the add-on single CD player that mounts above the radio. SumAccordGuy94 is probably right about there not being a power gain(I checked after I posted), but the sound is a great improvement over the FM or regular tape deck. I am getting rid of mine to an MP3 player with an auxillary input for XM Radio. I installed the XM radio, but am forced to listen to it with the tape adapter for now(YUK!).
