If I correctly followed your post, then check the clutch again and make sure everything is still correctly installed (tightened, etc), make sure the throwout is ok, make sure there are no springs broken, etc.

What happens with the car turned off. If there are still problems with the engine not running then it could be an internal transmission problem.
