Remember that an OEM ITR motor is at max HP at 8000 RPM, and people are going to be shifting between 8000 and 8400 on a stock motor.

Honda's recommendation of 5w30 is predicated on the engine's characteristics, and you should please make absolutely sure you know what you're doing if you're going to change viscosity and increase the oil pressure.

Switching to a higher viscosity oil to prevent burnoff is only a temporary solution to what could be a serious problem.

The thread originator was actually talking about a USDM GS-R motor, so it would probably be a good idea to close this thread before we inadvertently disseminate misinformaton.
