It stands for Active Torque Transfer System, and it uses hydraulic pressure to transfer torque from the wheel with the least to the wheel with the most.... It is NOT traction control, but I've heard it does work. I tried a Type SH when I was looking and didn't feel the 3k price difference was justafiable for return in performance. You have to really press it hard in the corners, and I guess it gives you rear wheel drive handling.
actually ATTS doesn't give you RWD-like handling, what it gives you is basically an electronic LSD. though, not really: ATTS only works when cornering and basically causes the outside wheel to spin 15% faster than the inside.
personally i would recommend a 5th gen base model, because you can do what ATTS does and more with an old fashioned Limited Slip Diff.
