In my experience, that clicking sound is caused by 1 of 3 things. Starter, dead or dying battery, or loose battery connection. Obviously, you can try to tighten the connection. For the starter, try putting the car in gear and rocking it back and forth a bit. Sometimes that will help you catch a tooth on the starter.
