My 16x7" wheels has a +37mm offset and when I was using 205/40/16 tires, I didn't have to worry about rubbing at all (no matter what the height the car was). When I switched to 205/45/16, I'd experience minimal rubbing on the fenderwell.

When I used to have 18x7.5" with a +40mm offset with 215/35/18's, I could hardly lower it. I was driving with about an inch gap between the tire and the fender and I would rub hitting dips and whatnot.

So if you could get an offset between 42-45, you should be gravy.
