Hi everyone.
My name is Lisabeth, and I'm an alcoholic.
Wait, where am I?
Okay, I'm not an alcoholic, but my name is Lisabeth. I hate when people mispronounce my name. It really pisses me off. I'll be a quarter of a century old in approximately 5 weeks. That kind of scares me.
I've been married for 10 months to the most amazing person I've ever met in my life. We don't have any kids yet, but we are definitely looking forward to the day when that happens. He wants 10, I want 3. I'm going to get my way on that one.
I'm about to become a college student again, after a long hiatus. I'm planning on majoring in French. Where that will lead me, I'm not sure, but I'm not entirely against teaching at the high school level. The current quality of teachers often scares me. I used to be a theatre major at New York University, but I didn't have the $31,000 they wanted every year, and they wouldn't accept organ donations in lieu of tuition, so I left. I worked for a huge corporation, United Airlines, for two years, and discovered that it was run by Satan's minions, and that I hated serving drinks and pretzels to people who were too stupid to travel. Like Mike, I generally consider people to be stupid. I've worked with the public my entire life, so I'm pretty confident in my assumptions.
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now live in the shadow of the Capitol Dome near Washington DC, by way of northern Michigan, Illinois, New York, New Jersey and southern France. I miss France and New York a lot.
I was bilingual in English and Cantonese as a small child, but have since totally forgotten how to speak Chinese in the last 21 years.

I want to relearn it. No, I'm not Asian. I'm mostly Scottish/English/Irish/Welsh, Croatian, German and French. I learned to read at age 2 and still love to read more than just about anything.
I am a former ballerina and swing dancer. I also taught ballet to little kids ages 3-6, and taught swing dance to teenagers and adults. I loved it, and want to get back into it. Dancing, not teaching. I love all types of music, but my CD collection tends toward music made between 1925-1965. I love all things retro/vintage and wish there was a way to make a living as a new wave Vargas girl. I was born in the wrong time, apparently.
I was raised Roman Catholic, but I never felt like it was the place for me. I don't practice any religion now, but I most closely align myself with Buddhism. My mother is horrified.
As far as my politics go, I am a semi-conservative liberal. I loved Clinton as a president, but detested his cheating and lying. I have no patience for infidelity. I hate Bush. I think he is truly evil and am praying for someone to oust him in November. I am pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-education and anti-war. For the most part, politics bore me. Actually, I enjoy politics, it's the politicians that bore me. I don't think many of them are interested in getting into office to help people. Purely ego. I wish we could have a socialized health care system in this country. I find it profoundly unfair that only the wealthy can afford good health care. I find it absolutely revolting that college tuitions continue to climb and so many people cannot attend school because of the prohibitive cost, yet professors are being let go.
I talk a lot.
