Nothing wrong with wiring to the battery. If anything, u just wrap the wire around one prong of the fuse, and then put the fuse in. Use one that gets power all the time, like a power window or door locks. I dont think that scanner should pull too much power. If u are scared to do it, let someone do it who knows.
