Just my guess...but if a certain country caused the blackout last summer I think there would be a lot buz about it. This is the first time I am hearing about this rumor and I don't think it holds a lot of truth to it. But whatever.

To stay on topic the US has to intervene in global affairs. Why? Because we are the biggest global economy today. Just look at all the goods we use or consume everyday and look for their country of origin. The US keeps a lot of countries economies afloat with the amount of aid that is given, corporations that have relocated there, and the number of goods they produce for us. The US is the worlds largest consumer.

With that said I think we do have a right to be the world's policeman. I think the UN has proven itself ineffective at providing this service, and until they do someone needs to step in and keep order.
